Wed 03 Sep 25: Zurich
Thank goodness this is our last time zone change for a while, because I am really struggling adjusting, and getting decent sleep. It was another very long day with an early start at 04:00am. 5 hours sleep is not enough for me. After faffing around for a while, we headed down for breakfast then returned to pack and check out of our room while another room that was allocated to us for the rail tour was prepared. It was all a bit frustrating, but we played the game and checked out, until the cleaners got our other room ready. Meanwhile, we left our luggage in the baggage room and set off to explore Zurich. It was an overcast morning, and a bit fresh, but much more pleasant for walking than the last few days in Dubai. We found a nice cafe, then continued looking around before returning to move into a new room. After dropping our luggage in the room, we didn't waste any time getting out again to explore the Old Town of Zurich. The swelling in Noel's foot had come down a lot overnight, and while she still has some soreness, she was comfortable with all the walking. By the afternoon, the clouds had cleared and it turned into a beautiful clear sunny and warm 24 degree day. It was very pleasant just wondering aimlessly through the old town. We eventually returned to the hotel at about 5pm, only to offload our packs before heading out again for another short walk stopping at COOP across the road to buy chicken and salad for a dining in night in the room. We are expecting rain for most of our visit to Switzerland (certainly not planned), but today was surprisingly nice, and we hope the weather forecasters have got it wrong again for the remainder of our visit. More days like today will be a blessing.
